Movement is life
My Background
The career path that lead to me becoming an Osteopath began as a teenager, plagued by various sporting injuries I would spend hours in the library reading about how to treat them. Following school I further pursued my passion for fitness and sport through studying a degree in Physical Education at Otago. The 4 year degree established a grounding in injury rehabilitation, nutrition and health through exercise. However it wasn't until 10 years later from a foot injury sustained in full contact karate would I be introduced to Osteopathy. I visited an Osteopath who fixed the injury that had forced me to stop training for 9 months in one session. So impressed with the consultation and treatment process I decided Osteopathy was my calling. So I enrolled in the 5 year intensive course at Unitec, juggling family life and work as a sports massage therapist. During my studies my interest in injury and rehabilitation saw me complete a Masters thesis investigating the effectiveness of manual therapy techniques on lateral ankle sprains.
Personal Training
I have extensive training and experience in personal training concerning injury rehab, functional training and high intensity training. Get great results whether it is weight loss, posture, boosting energy levels training for sport or overcoming an injury. I also provide specialised programmes for mobility and flexibility.
My own sports background
I have competed at national level in athletics, cross-country, rowing, played rugby for Otago University and then followed my passions for windsurfing/surfing in Western Australia, snow boarding and mountain biking in Hokkaido Japan. I have also trained and competed in full-contact karate in both Japan and NZ for over 10 years. My leisure time is now taken up with entertaining my two daughters and furthering my education. I still keep extremely fit sneaking out for trainings early in the mornings and making it to karate training when I can.
